Raised south of Atlanta in Jonesboro, Dr. David Wayne Murphy went to Presbyterian College for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry. After working a year with an orthopedic surgeon, he entered medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He then went to Columbus, GA. where he completed a three year residency in Family Practice and immediately after became board certified.
He moved to Hartwell, GA. where he practiced rural family medicine, including obstetrics, for five years. He then went to North Carolina and worked in Asheboro for two years. After his stay in North Carolina, he settled in Greenville.
Dr. Murphy is currently married to his wife, Lisa, and has four children, Jake, 25, Caleb, 22, Seth, 19, and Sofia, 13.
Along with working for Poinsett Family Practice, he is also the Medical Director of the After Hours Urgent Care for Bon Secours Medical Group.
Dr. Murphy’s hobbies include guitar, fishing, and travel. He is also a Parrothead.
